D Car — November 2003

Team SOLO is made up of people connected with Yokota Air Base. The name reflects a gathering of distinctive individuals. At its center are Jason, a cheerful and energetic team leader, and Alexander, the cool-headed strategist, surrounded by sport-compact enthusiasts with their own personalities. They take a break at an American diner along Route 16…

Because they know what real battles are, they value time to relax. Pilots who risk their lives in wartime can be cheerful and approachable in everyday life, almost like different people. Team SOLO members, who are equally serious about driving, also become kind and upbeat when they rest. Looking at the members again, each has an individual style, and their cars seem to share nothing beyond the team stickers.

That is part of the essence of the American spirit, isn’t it? Still, everyone speaks up for themselves while respecting one another—that is what defines our team,” one member said simply. The team manages to unite these seemingly contradictory ideas. They started their engines and took off once more into the late-night Route 16, their expressions serious again.
