A stylish DC2 with a slammed stance and swaps. Slammed suspension once lagged behind coilovers in handling, but newer systems—such as Skipper’s four-wheel independent air suspension—can integrate coilovers and provide effective damping and grip. That makes more owners choose a slammed setup for its show-off appeal. This DC2 uses the company’s air suspension with independent control at all four corners, delivering strong performance through corners. It’s a suspension that drives well, too!

Trend

9.

Air and hydraulic suspension have long been popular for their slammed stance when parked. Recently, kits that combine them with coilovers and prioritize driving performance have appeared, setting off a new wave of slammed builds!

The Skipper air-suspension system (kit ¥420,000) moves about 120 mm between the nearly-grounded parked stance and driving height. The low profile looks great!

18-inch wheels

32.

The wheels are 18-inch TSW VX-1s. The overall look has a lowrider-Euro flavor, but the wheel setup is distinctly race-inspired.

The front has been swapped to an Acura CL face, now almost a standard modification. The mirrors are borrowed from an M3.

OWNER

37.

Owner Narumi has achieved the custom concept ‘UDM full spec’ with impressive precision. A matching system lets the car combine this low profile with coilover performance. It can be paired with the suspension of your choice—an innovative idea.

Layered reflectors and covers create a complex-looking taillight. The colors match the body perfectly.

Coilovers plus hydraulics…

39.

The main unit is surprisingly compact. It is the heart of the system, with a hydraulic pump built in.

Off-the-shelf coilovers

42.

Bolt-on installation! Skipper, a leader in hydraulic suspension, developed its innovative ‘match system,’ combining coilovers with hydraulics. By controlling the lower seat hydraulically, you can adjust the coilover settings remotely with ease.
