- 2A1
- Bought a…71 specifically for drift track events! [description/model damaged]
- Wanting to enjoy driving more…[damaged]
- Fully tuned2T-G gives plenty of fighting power! [damaged]
- Even people somewhat interested in1980s rear-drive cars may not recognize this immediately. The complicated bumper shape is distinctive.Type AT141:the Corona,a sibling of the Carina and Celica.Kato wanted as rare a1980s4A-G-powered car as possible. His concept is unusual:his inspiration was the old street racers of Fukuoka,Kyushu. He aims for the “good old bosozoku”look, adopting Fukuoka-style rules—extremely low ride height, negative camber, stretched tires, and knuckle lines [style term uncertain].For Vitaloni mirrors,he chose Baby Turbo,I think, rather than the usual California [OCR damaged].

- An unpopular car!?Lowered and cambered, full of determination! [damaged]
- Originally4A-G-powered,it now has a late AE92 engine for more power. The air cleaner was removed and mesh fitted;Okumura Ironworks made the exhaust manifold and muffler.Other than that,it is stock.The141 Corona range also included a2000-turbo model with the3T-GT.Front Yayoi wheels are14-inch8J,offset−11,with185/55 tires. The spare is another rarity,Cross Fever. He looks intimidating, but when removing the lightweight aluminum wheel nuts,he blew dust out of the holes—a sign of attention to detail. The coilovers are homemade. The specification sheet says “SPL,”but what is inside? The lower arms were extended for the same reason as Hayakawa’s;negative camber is about six degrees.Shocks and springs are separate, but unlike TE71 and AE86,this car has four-wheel independent suspension.Lowering it naturally increases negative camber. The TRD LSD is heavily shimmed.“The diff just has to work—and look cool!”he says.Manly! The tail lamps are blacked out with JZX81…internals transplanted [model code damaged].The silencer is for a GP Sports S14.Following Fukuoka style, the plate moved from between the tail lenses to below the bumper. He calls this rear view “enough presence that even a Mercedes won’t tailgate.”The water-flower shift knob is a favorite period item. The Bride bucket perhaps does not suit it;he admits,“This looks like an ordinary street racer.”And the passenger seat is stock Impreza—why!? [OCR damaged]
- CORONA
- (AT141)
- The solid-red body with plenty of metallic flake was only finished recently. He insists on14-inch8J wheels all around:front Yayoi,offset−11;rear…offset−15 [wheel name damaged].Rear-only overfenders are striking too! [OCR damaged]
- The license-plate position shows real attention to detail.Of course,a car featured by Drift Tengoku drives well too.But he seems uninterested in contests or winning. He likes throwing it around for fun and attracting attention. That sounds enjoyable in its own way.The Corona weighs about1100 kg,roughly150 kg more than an AE86,so it lacks some old-car lightness. But he does not care.“The Corona is the world’s best!”he says confidently, enjoying his drifting life [OCR damaged].
- Owner:加藤篤,23;…School with Kato Construction [name pronunciation/team OCR uncertain]
- “I am neither a drifter,a street racer,nor a biker-gang member.If anything,I would call myself a street-road racer!” [OCR damaged]
- Car history
- Despite appearances,he is a devoted Drift Tengoku reader and remembers old articles so well that we were surprised. He mostly searches internet auctions for parts;apparently “bosozoku”is an essential search term!?His car history began with an AE86,then a TA63 Carina,S13 Silvia, and RPS13.He bought this Corona a little over a year ago.He is junior to Corolla owner Hayakawa and appears influenced by him [OCR damaged].
- First car:AE86.Cars owned so far:four.Other cars currently owned:none [OCR damaged].
