With the deadline approaching, Nanami came by to change tires for the first time in a while—and surprised us. Her red early-model S14 had a pink late-model front end and an unfamiliar front bumper. She said M-Sports had made it for her: a one-off aero part, perhaps a prototype? We asked Matsuoka, the company president who built the car, for details.

34.

It is a true one-off. Drift cars are often associated with wide, aggressive body kits, but this design aims for a more feminine look without sacrificing performance. It was based on the company’s GVB Impreza aero kit. They only had time to make the front bumper, but plan to add side skirts and a rear bumper, then offer a full kit and expand to other models. They are still considering pricing and launch timing, but may develop a Tsukamoto Nanami line of women-focused aero parts. The next project may be an S15 or 180SX. Although this bumper is not currently in the catalog, a similar one can be made for about ¥100,000, plus roughly ¥20,000 for paint.

Fukui, whose unconventional drift car was featured in the August issue, had said during our interview that he would fit an LFA bumper—and recently made good on that promise. Niyan (Awaji), who has long handled the Supra’s bodywork, built it. A genuine LFA bumper costs ¥300,000 and is hard to find used, but they discovered that DAMD’s 86 bumper has an LFA-like design and used its lower section. They combined it with the upper half of a heavily modified Ridox bumper. Fukui wanted to finish it in time for an event and stand out. Since Niyan posted the build on his blog, many people have asked for the same bumper.

A one-off bumper—absolutely outrageous!

31.

The design was inspired by an M-Sports GVB Impreza kit. It looks natural even without a front-mount intercooler, and the ducts accommodate recessed fog lamps.
