In Osaka-area quarter-mile racing, an FD3S known as Hanasaki's car is something of a local celebrity. It has just run 11.1 seconds. Its rival, Yamada, is ready for a rematch. The secret weapon is a three-rotor 20B swap. Fujita Engineering handled the build. It uses twin Turbonetics T62-I turbos, far beyond the T8-34D, with MoTeC control. It currently makes 610 PS and has the potential to reach 750...
The build kept escalating. It now matches Riki Auto Works' demo car: a side-ported 13B with a TD06-25G making 380 PS. It is near the limit for a grip-focused FC3S. Matsumoto first bought it because he thought a rotary-powered car was unusual, but he has become a devoted FC fan. The tire and wheel combination is Bridgestone 540S tires with AVS wheels...

At present it makes 610 PS at 1.0 kg/cm² of boost. The next goal is 750 PS from a three-rotor 20B. The engine is bridge-ported and uses twin Turbonetics T62-I turbos. MoTeC controls three 1,000 cc and three 890 cc additional injectors.
A three-rotor swap sets a final target of 750 PS! With a clean launch, a 10-second quarter-mile is certain.
The exterior is nearly stock apart from a prominent FEED lip spoiler. The rear tires are Bridgestone Potenza 520S, size 245/45-17.

At this level, fuel pressure becomes a concern under high boost. A Mazda Speed fuel pump, two Bosch pumps, and a collector tank are installed in the luggage area.
The 20B swap adds about 50 kg and shifts the balance to 52:48 front-to-rear. The added weight is more than offset by the speed. Now the only thing left is a perfect launch—the potential is easily good for a 10-second pass.
With a good launch, a 10-second pass is certain—Mr. Fujita guarantees it. Yamada is aiming to beat Hanasaki's car.
Ripping around the circuit with a TD06-25G at full song!
Mr. Matsumoto's AE86 and 180SX...
After owning an SX, he arrived at the FC3S as a lifelong drift enthusiast. He fell in love with the FC's handling and is now devoted to grip driving, especially at Tsukuba Circuit...

The B-wave bumper spoiler works surprisingly well with the factory side steps.
Controlling its sharp responses for high-speed drifting! Side-ported 13B with boost increased.
Arai drifts this FC at Oi Pier...
A Trust kit installs the TD06-25G. The side-ported 13B supplies ample exhaust energy to spin it up, producing 380 PS at peak output.
He strings together clean laps. Although the FC3S is said to be too sensitive for drifting, he explains: ‘It certainly reacts sharply, and it can't do the dramatic, high-angle drifts you might expect. But compared with an 180SX, you can drift it at higher speed.’ That's what Arai enjoys about FC drifting.
Owner Daisuke Matsumoto points to a caricature of manager Kaneko of Riki Auto Works, who handled the tuning.

This setup increases boost on the stock turbo, to a maximum of 0.9 kg/cm², while the 13B receives side-port work. The radiator is Riki's three-row unit.
