About this issue
The August 1999 issue of Young Version explores drift setups versus grip tuning through 22 shop demo cars, including S15 Silvias from Mine’s and Kazama Auto. Features cover front-wheel-drive builds taking on high-powered 4WD rivals, choosing a first drift car, and reviving a used AE86 Trueno on a ¥1 million total budget. Suspension fundamentals, engine-oil selection, rotary maintenance, new-parts tests, and reports from Hiroshima and California round out this look at Japan’s late-1990s tuning scene.
242 available scans from Young Version — August 1999, in right-to-left reading order. Japanese OCR and English translation drafts are available throughout. Drafts have not received exhaustive image proofreading; unreadable source remains recorded in the archival data.

To everyone in the neighborhood, sorry for the noise as always…
It’s my blue-metallic pearl Onevia. What do you think of this color? Pretty, right? ♡ Many thanks to Seito Paint for the great paint job! Under the hood, it’s equipped with an intercooler and front pipe, with the exhaust setup by Apexi.

A full aero kit rarely seen on an AE92…
This Levin is built to my specifications. Engine modifications include a large-diameter Cusco pulley, Power Ball exhaust manifold, head polishing, cylinder boring, and more, producing 220 PS. It has now covered 210,000 km, and I plan to keep driving it to 300,000 km. (1990 model year, GT-Z.)

And, of course, the Trust intercooler…
The front bumper, which I modified to match the car, is my favorite! I paired it with a 5ZIGEN muffler, and it sounds great. I’m also proud that I did all the installation and fabrication myself. Next I’m going to tackle the LSD!

It’s all about tuning! The Inter-Gate front lip and Way Glide side steps also look perfect. Next I’m going to upgrade the suspension and engine. (1994 model year, GT-Four.)
