About this issue
The August 1999 issue of Young Version explores drift setups versus grip tuning through 22 shop demo cars, including S15 Silvias from Mine’s and Kazama Auto. Features cover front-wheel-drive builds taking on high-powered 4WD rivals, choosing a first drift car, and reviving a used AE86 Trueno on a ¥1 million total budget. Suspension fundamentals, engine-oil selection, rotary maintenance, new-parts tests, and reports from Hiroshima and California round out this look at Japan’s late-1990s tuning scene.
242 available scans from Young Version — August 1999, in right-to-left reading order. Japanese OCR and English translation drafts are available throughout. Drafts have not received exhaustive image proofreading; unreadable source remains recorded in the archival data.

A GT race car for the streets!

I’m proud that I had custom overfenders and a rear diffuser wing made to match JUN’s GT Championship race car…
It has an RB26 block, modified TD06-25G turbo, six 700 cc injectors, and too many modifications to list. It really is a GT car for the street. Main exterior parts: front spoiler, front grille, side steps, rear spoiler, rear under spoiler.

I fitted a Varis Extreme front half spoiler, designed for the facelift model, to my early-model Curren. It’s my own mid-model look, with a late-model front and early-model rear! The FET fog lamps embedded in the bumper look great too, don’t they? (1994 model year, ZS.)

Naohiro Yoshida… “You can’t miss it! Since installing this, everyone’s eyes are on me. So far, engine tuning is limited to the air cleaner, muffler, and computer. Next I want to change the turbo and stand out for speed too!” Hattori Makoto… (OCR names/text collide.)

I painted the side steps blue to give the car a summery look! It doesn’t have air conditioning, though… The mesh indicators look cool too. (1987 model year, GT Apex.) Main exterior parts: front spoiler, front grille, side steps, rear under spoiler.
