7.

→ The chrome-plated trim plate and carbon-look boot add a slightly luxurious feel.

6.

→ The car already had a Tenzor R brake-lever handle, but we swapped it for an Lactive version with a boot.

8.

A brake lever transformed with a matching boot Lactive also offers a boot designed to fit its parking-brake handle. The D Car Civic already had a Tenzor R brake lever, but we tried fitting the Lactive version to see how it would look...

← This is designed for left-hand-drive cars, so it must be reconfigured for a right-hand-drive vehicle. This one has already been converted. Price: ¥13,800.

13.

← A set combining a parking-brake handle and boot. The handle tip and boot have a carbon-look finish. Price: ¥7,800.

We tried it to see what kind of look it would create. Both the Lactive parking-brake handle and boot have a carbon-look pattern, giving them a sharp, stylish appearance. Installation is easy. The Tenzor R version is also understated and cool, so perhaps we can switch between the two styles depending on our mood!

16.

← Fit the Lactive shift-lever boot over the shift lever together with its chrome plate.

18.

Fit the parking-brake boot and handle over the lever, then attach the boot.

21.

← Screw the chrome plate down around its edge. A power screwdriver makes it easier, but an ordinary screwdriver works too.

22.

Remove the existing handle from the parking-brake lever. Loosen the set screw and the handle will come off.

23.

← Attach the handle to the parking-brake lever with the set screw. Then fit the handle boot over it to finish.

27.

← Once the chrome plate is secured, screw the shift knob back on.

28.

Remove the plastic cover from the brake lever. It is only clipped on, so you can pull it off by hand.

32.

The rear brake rotors were replaced too!

33.

Last month we upgraded the front brakes to four-piston opposed calipers, while the rear remained stock. President Sase saw it and said, 'I have these left over—let's put them on for you.' He replaced the rear rotors with drilled Lactive rotors (¥24,000 for the pair). What a generous guy!

35.

Next month: an audio makeover! We're building something amazing, so the project is taking a one-month break.
