A rev limiter that makes a big impression with spectacular afterfire and a thunderous roar! A rev limiter normally cuts fuel to keep the engine from over-revving. But running lean while this kind of limiter is active can be dangerous, especially in a turbo car, and may lead to engine failure. Bee★R developed this limiter to control engine speed by cutting ignition instead. The unburned fuel travels into the exhaust, where it ignites—afterfire BOMB!! Bee Racing, tel. 042-799-7800.

Installation is basically a matter of splicing into the wiring, so it is not difficult. The work takes about 30 minutes to an hour; Bee charges ¥15,000 for labor.

Connect the handbrake switch to enable this function, which lets you set an rpm limit linked to the handbrake. An external switch also works; it changes over with a negative input. In other words, it is for drag-strip launches.

25.

Set the rev limit in 500-rpm increments. If you want to set it higher than the factory limiter, you must disable the factory unit.

Set the ignition-cut cycle here. There are 15 steps, from 1–9 and A–F. The closer you get to F, the longer the interval; a longer interval generally makes flames more likely. Set it to 0 to switch the function off.

30.

The function can also be switched off.

The rev limiter skips ignition pulses, sending the unburned mixture into the exhaust. It is then ignited and burned, followed by a rush of hot gas. The heat can ignite the unburned mixture and produce flames. How readily flames appear depends on the engine and exhaust setup; contact the maker for details.
