Interior

2.

A moving theater with central gauges and twin monitors

3.

The dashboard is the first thing that catches the eye: it has an unusual sculpted form. To put a monitor in front of both the driver and passenger, the gauges have been grouped in the center. The owner’s first priority was this central gauge and twin-monitor setup, along with a quality audio system.

ITEROR HONDR CRX DELSOL

5.

It lets the occupants enjoy movies even while away from home. The dashboard is so carefully finished that at first glance it could almost be mistaken for a factory interior. Monitors are also built into the door panels; like the exterior, the cabin is designed to entertain visually.

13.

The Ractive tachometer includes a shift-timing indicator. It is mounted near the roof so it does not obstruct the monitors.

7.

The gauges are grouped in the center, with a monitor in front of each seat. The custom dashboard is a distinctive part of the interior.

6.

Racing Sparco seats were chosen, with vivid blue upholstery selected to match the exterior.

…in the cabin.

WELD engine starter

8.

The starter switch has been changed to WELD’s touch-type design. It is a feature that makes starting the car fun. The switch is mounted above the windshield…

High-quality sound in a cabin that seems too small

24.

Concept handled the audio system. Because the del Sol’s cabin is so small,

26.

they had to work hard to produce high-quality sound.

27.

The heart of the system is Alpine’s F#1 component line.

30.

Sawada even sold his then-daily driver, a Honda S-MX, to afford the Alpine F#1 (laughs).

33.

Alpine F#1 system: “When I think of my S-MX, I could cry.”

32.

A subwoofer sits behind the seats, while the Alpine F#1 system fills the trunk. Concept’s skill turns the del Sol’s cramped cabin into a refined listening space.

Bring out the best in factory parts!

23.

The engine bay is beautifully finished, but a closer look reveals how many factory parts remain.

22.

The engine bay is beautifully finished, yet it uses more factory parts than you might expect. “Rather than add aggressive aftermarket parts just to make the car look intimidating, I wanted to make the most of the strengths of the original parts.”

25.

Polishing the parts and replacing worn rubber components is enough to restore the engine’s shine—a good example of what careful maintenance can do.

28.

…and bring back its shine.

29.

The Garage Tiara muffler has a sporty sound without being too loud. Its simple design suits the rear of the car.

A tidy engine bay is another WELD specialty. This effective approach—making the most of factory parts—is worth taking as an example.
