On a recent trip to Los Angeles, I had dinner with a screenwriter involved in the Fast & Furious franchise at a Hollywood restaurant. He asked me about Japan and how a new film, soon to begin shooting, should portray Japan itself and its tuning culture. He wanted to understand current Japanese car culture, including import racing. I was surprised by how much he wanted to learn. We also discussed how Japan and Japanese people are viewed in America, particularly in white communities. The image of the samurai remains strong, influenced in part by The Last Samurai, and Japanese people are often seen as quiet but possessing a distinctive inner strength. I believe that people and design carry ideas shaped by history, culture and religion. When I design aero parts, I think about each country’s lifestyles and social groups. Encounters with other cultures help my sensibility grow. I want to keep absorbing those influences and continue developing VeilSide for users around the world, beyond the American market. That ongoing growth is what excites me now.
Nitrous oxide system: another dimension of acceleration at the push of a button. This system boosts engine output by injecting nitrous oxide (N₂O) from an onboard tank into the engine. Unlike a supercharger or turbocharger, it does not compress and feed outside air into the engine. It can be installed in naturally aspirated or turbocharged cars, from kei cars to V8 and V12 models. The bottle in the trunk or cabin makes a bold statement, and the system also provides a cooling effect. VeilSide installed one on a 350Z and reports an 80-PS gain. Press a button and experience a different world.
