We have had a lot of inquiries. For fans of extremely loud exhausts, this is a serious problem, and some people have stopped going to circuits because of it. That is a headache for event organizers too. So here is a product that turns the question “What if there were a muffler like this?” into reality. It is designed to be neither too quiet nor too loud, without sacrificing power!
The full-straight-through design is the basic setup, but it is quiet enough to run at full throttle even on a turbo-swapped car. The TGS link and Blade highlighted here are both from shops in the Kanto region, so the expected venue is clearly Nikko Circuit. Since late last year, sound checks and warnings there have been strict; a Silvia with a straight pipe should assume it will not be allowed on track. The first popular workaround was a simple corrugated extension pointed to the right so it would not face the meter—a bit of street-driver ingenuity. But the setup was so crude that parts kept falling off while driving, and the circuit eventually banned it. That leaves replacing the muffler as the only real option. Some people seem to say, “Then forget the circuit,” and stick to street driving only. Sudo of TGS, who regularly organizes track days at Nikko…

Noise and scraping countermeasures are set to become the next big thing!
As for the SR…
Without an expansion chamber, it might be tough…

The sub-muffler alone cuts noise by 2 dB! The main pipe is 76.3 mm, and the sub-muffler (expansion chamber) is about 80 mm in outside diameter. Its interior is straight-through, so there is no power loss. Testing showed a reduction of about 2 dB; combined with the main silencer, the total reduction is about 5 dB.
1JZ and RB engines are less likely to fail a sound test, but four-cylinder SRs often exceed the limit. “A Silvia with an aftermarket exhaust manifold is too loud; without a sub-muffler, getting under the limit by 15 dB is tough,” says Sudo. There are plenty of options, including sub-muffler-free and semi-straight configurations.
