It is called the “Direct Cooling System,” made by a company in Toda, Saitama, aptly named Kuchofuku Co., Ltd. It has two fans and runs on four AA batteries. It reportedly draws in 20 liters of outside air per second to evaporate sweat. The man was not driving today, but had been asked to film, so he brought this secret weapon from work to beat the heat. We tried it on and were amazed at how cool it felt! We were also surprised by how much it puffed up. It costs around ¥10,000.

Drift Heaven may have suggested it. The driver nervously asked, “Will I get in trouble if I take it on the course?” Judging by the JAF badge and Pipo-kun mascot, he is probably very well-behaved in everyday life.

Rather than replacing only the damaged section, you might think he should rebuild the whole thing. But perhaps it has grown character over the years. The material looks like worn jeans. This deserves a “Best Jeanist” award!

It looks completely different if you make it this way so the pulley is visible, rather than hiding it. “That makes sense,” I thought—then the owner called from behind while I was taking photos without permission: “There’s no one here, so go ahead and take pictures!” Plenty of people are going to copy this.
