The points of Trust’s new turbo are not only its target power but also its high durability. The Mitsubishi-made TD turbo has very little variation from unit to unit and stands up to high rpm and heavy loads—unlike some overseas products. “We have virtually no initial failures,” says Kazama, who has had his share of bad experiences. The turbo kit includes an adapter so it bolts to the factory exhaust manifold. The estimated price is ¥300,000. Considering how much the car changes, that is strong value. If you are still running stock boost, you might skip the boost-up stage and install this kit directly.

Kawasaki’s
driving impression
At 1.3 kg/cm² of boost and 500 horsepower, it is really fast. As you would expect, this is a different animal from a simple boost-up tune.
…is different from a boost-up tune. Full boost arrives at around 4,200 rpm, and it delivers a strong hit. It drifts well…
It hits hard. Calling it “a slightly stronger version of stock” would not begin to describe the feeling.
It feels like a full-turbo setup. If you lift and get back on the throttle below 3,000 rpm, the low end…
Depending on how you drive, you might feel the low end is lacking—but just keep your foot down and let it pour out smoke…
…and you will be fine. It also sounds great. When I told Kazama, he said, “Isn’t that because of the manifold?”
“The manifold is a carefully developed piece of equipment…”
“It has a really special manifold fitted, after all,” he said. The gate…

Very fast!

The red lettering is a comment from Friends Inose. You can see that they are still fine-tuning the setup. There is a dip in power in the midrange, but apparently that should be manageable through tuning.
There is a dip in the power curve, but it should be possible to correct it through tuning.
