“Factory five-speed turbo models are rare and feel overpriced, so an NA-based car converted to a turbo five-speed is also a valid choice. They typically go for ¥500,000–¥600,000. Specialty shops often sell examples already fitted with aero, coilovers, and a muffler, which is great if you want to drift right away; expect around ¥1 million. When buying, note that high-compression models often develop oil leaks, and check whether an NA-based conversion has been fitted with the larger turbo radiator. Cars with driving history are fairly common, so choose to fit your budget. Personally, I think a tuned car is a better buy than a completely stock one.” (Garage Peace, 058-248-5577).

Two-ply FRP reinforcement keeps the aero from snapping cleanly in half. Highly effective!
The ultimate Cefiro build would use an RB26DETT swap. This Naito Cefiro has 87 mm N1 pistons and JUN high-lift cams, and makes about 450 hp with increased boost. Low-mileage engines are astonishingly expensive, so if you plan to keep the car for years, a smarter approach is to buy a cheaper engine and overhaul it…
…buy one and rebuild it; that is the sensible route.
The owner’s prized RB26 is painted pink. It reportedly caught fire recently, and burn marks remain on the body.

A common worry for Cefiro owners running lowered cars is broken aero. FRP parts do crack easily, but reinforcing the vulnerable spots can help prevent it. Add FRP to the inside of likely crack points to double strength. The urethane materials that are popular lately also work, so give them a try.

Adjustable stabilizer kit.
Low-price radiator for bolt-on turbo upgrades and turbo swaps. Copper construction. ¥30,000 [code D].
Uses the stock stabilizer bar and makes its connection to the rear arm adjustable, allowing stiffness to be tuned. Changing the stabilizer’s leverage ratio preloads the bar and increases its effective stiffness. Price undecided; planned range ¥10,000–¥25,000 [code F].
Efficient cross-flow layout; front-mount intercooler kit. ¥138,000 [code C].
