The result became a 700-PS monster, but the transmission could not take it, so a Trust six-speed from an S13 Silvia was installed. At the drag start, wheelspin is a storm—ARASHI! The suspension is not yet set up in a modern way, so the current time remains in the 12-second range. The plan is to control boost in stages using an EVC or MoTeC instead of the mechanical VVC, to improve traction. The base is old, but the approach is the latest—a reverse “Urashima Taro” S30Z.

This immaculate S30Z is a 1972 model , and the owner has had it for ten years. It is a lovingly maintained build. Aside from paint, the owner does all work himself; anything unavailable as a part is custom-made. It is a drag setup, with a classic L28-based 3.1-liter engine making 330 PS. Weight reduction is thorough: the hood, fenders, and doors are FRP. There is no roll cage, which raises concerns about rigidity, but the owner says he has learned to drive around it. The current quarter-mile time is a flat 12 seconds, very strong for a naturally aspirated car. The goal is to change the differential and gearing and reach 11.8 seconds. This is a fully competitive drag machine!
