About this issue
The August 1999 issue of Young Version explores drift setups versus grip tuning through 22 shop demo cars, including S15 Silvias from Mine’s and Kazama Auto. Features cover front-wheel-drive builds taking on high-powered 4WD rivals, choosing a first drift car, and reviving a used AE86 Trueno on a ¥1 million total budget. Suspension fundamentals, engine-oil selection, rotary maintenance, new-parts tests, and reports from Hiroshima and California round out this look at Japan’s late-1990s tuning scene.
242 available scans from Young Version — August 1999, in right-to-left reading order. Japanese OCR and English translation drafts are available throughout. Drafts have not received exhaustive image proofreading; unreadable source remains recorded in the archival data.

but this one feels easier. It can drift quickly; you just need to remember it spins easily and bring the rear out without adding too much angle. It is a fun car to control. Front tires absolutely have to be 16-inch, though; 17-inch doesn't work. The rear subframe can crack or bend, so watch that too. As people often say, the engine can fail easily. I've replaced mine more than ten times! The turbo is a TD06-20G, giving around 320 ps at 0.7 kg/cm² boost. Maybe that is too much power for drifting!?

A high-flow turbo gives top-end power but lacks low-end response, so this one uses [damaged reference] at 0.7 kg/cm² boost.

Oil-temperature, oil-pressure, and other auxiliary gauges are laid out in a line from the center console to the glovebox. He loves the sound of the RE Amemiya exhaust. The rear spoiler is stock, with an RE Amemiya rear under-spoiler.

With the front-mounted intercooler, the engine bay is quite spacious. A purple strut-tower bar of unknown make increases rigidity.
