About this issue
The August 1999 issue of Young Version explores drift setups versus grip tuning through 22 shop demo cars, including S15 Silvias from Mine’s and Kazama Auto. Features cover front-wheel-drive builds taking on high-powered 4WD rivals, choosing a first drift car, and reviving a used AE86 Trueno on a ¥1 million total budget. Suspension fundamentals, engine-oil selection, rotary maintenance, new-parts tests, and reports from Hiroshima and California round out this look at Japan’s late-1990s tuning scene.

Modelista is holding a customization fair to celebrate its second anniversary! The fair will be held July 17–18 at Modelista Tokyo and Modelista Fukuoka. Demonstrations such as virtual design, customized-car displays, a garage sale, and an idea contest are among the many events. Here is your chance to meet racing driver Masahiko Kageyama! He will appear as a guest at an event at Monte Carlo Yoshijima in Hiroshima. The event takes place July 18, with four roughly hour-long stage sessions starting at 11:00 (the OCR time in parentheses is unclear). There will be autograph sessions, commemorative photos, and games. Fans won’t want to miss it! Venue: Monte Carlo Yoshijima, 2nd floor, 2-24-30 Yoshijima Nishi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima.
On July 20, Honda race cars will run at Twin Ring Motegi. To preserve them in running condition, Honda regularly starts their engines and conducts driving tests. For this third session, Lotus-Honda cars, an NSX Le Mans 24 Hours race car, and a Group A Civic are planned. The event may change or be canceled depending on the weather.
