The downtown course is packed with thrills! After leaving the highway and entering the city, the course becomes a tight, demanding run. The roads are narrow, with intersections, steep rises and dips, and plenty of regular traffic. The nimble Hondas have an advantage here, darting smoothly and boldly through the course. When the drivers slide into the Chinatown area used as the finish, bystanders happen to cheer—as if they were watching the finish line of a race.

Tight cornering. Narrow city streets demand precise, tight corner work. The compact Civic shows what it can do, but once it straightens out, the bigger cars pull away.

Weaving between regular traffic. The cars flow through traffic as if the other vehicles were slalom cones. At their speed, the surrounding cars might as well be standing still.
Threading through the forest of buildings is one of the pleasures of a city course. The illuminated skyline gives the scene an almost dreamlike look.
Fighting for position at the junction. Even in the city, major roads intersect at a maze-like junction. This is another key point on the course.
Farther down from downtown, the route reaches the waterfront. Among the deserted, austere buildings, the cars seem like living creatures with minds of their own.
