I added a board over the trunk-through section and installed two extra speakers. I only split the wiring from the rear speakers, but they sound surprisingly good. The added speakers increased the volume…

A subwoofer…

My mental stamina isn't great, so I play music even while driving to build it up. I focus on bass: the amp is an Alpine MRV-T500, and I have two Alpine BASS200 subwoofers. I'd like to say I listen to Namie Amuro, but in reality it's mostly anime songs!

The finish is clean! Even with the rear seats in place, it still fits…

…just like this. There's surprisingly a lot of room in the trunk-through section, so a larger-diameter speaker might fit too!

The subwoofer board is made from MDF. One 7-mm sheet was too thin, so I used two layers. There are two 8-inch subwoofers, powered by a 1,000-watt Power Acoustik amp. The trunk itself acts as the subwoofer enclosure, so the bass hits hard. I covered the board with carbon-fiber sheet.

46.

The subwoofers are free-air type…

I use a fairly high-end head unit and speakers, but to improve the sound further I sound-deadened parts of the roof, doors, and floor. Dynamat (vibration-damping material) and Ept Sealer (sound-absorbing material) are expensive, though; eventually I'll cover the entire interior with them!

50.

…may not look like much, but it produces plenty of bass. Since the board is visible from outside the car, the carbon-fiber sheet looks stylish.

He got the materials from an acquaintance, but if you bought sound-deadening material new, a 30 × 40 cm piece…

The damping material costs about 2,000 yen, and a same-sized sheet of sound absorber is about 1,500 yen, so covering everything would cost tens of thousands. When his girlfriend heard that, she got mad and said, “Spend less on music and improve your driving!”

The factory speakers are those flimsy oval ones, right? There aren't many aftermarket options either, so I switched to round speakers. The method is simple: drill a hole in the speaker net and push them in! I pulled on them by hand, but they don't budge. They're Alpine, so they sound great.

…yet. The disappointing part is that the board split because screws were driven straight into ordinary wood. You should drill pilot holes first. The chandelier is more for laughs than for a luxurious look…

69.

I made a box in the armrest space and installed a speaker, not a subwoofer! I think it's a 16-cm Diamond Audio unit, and it sounds pretty good. I bought the chandelier at an accessories shop; it cycles through seven colors! It cost 10,000 yen!

73.

I tugged on it with a fair amount of force, and it didn't move at all. If you remove the speaker, can it ever be put back…

The structure looks like an outer baffle, though I'm worried about the strength of the door trim. Is it fair to call this an outer baffle?
