From reinforced automatic-transmission kits to electronic controls. The reinforced AT uses HKS clutch-disc facings with a higher friction coefficient and more plates, increasing contact area and reducing slip. The AT oil cooler prevents ATF temperature from rising, reducing strain on the transmission. A gear-position display shows the actual shift position, which is difficult to determine in an automatic car, making slippage easier to spot. Automatic transmissions use a brief clutch-slip phase to reduce shift shock, but heavily tuned cars place extra strain on the clutch. The ALC prevents this. A Gear Hold Man can also lock the transmission in the gear you choose.
