A good start makes all the difference. The suspension setup has improved too. With the stiffer body eliminating the old jostling, I first thought the ride had become softer, but that was because the body was more solid. It keeps the previous Roadster's quick, nimble turn-in while feeling more stable when pushed, especially through corners. The Torsen LSD responds well, so you can enjoy controlling the car's attitude with the throttle. The engine isn't dramatically different from the previous 1.8; it has enough power for a proper FR driving style…

An engine sound that clears out with a crisp roar…
In the 1,800 six-speed model, the speedometer and tachometer have a special design: their needles begin at the six-o'clock position.
An aero board is available to make open-top driving more enjoyable. It reduces wind buffeting and makes cruising more comfortable.
It has enough power for the way you need to drive, though it isn't extraordinarily fast. Still, it is clearly improved, with more torque throughout the rev range and less falloff as you approach the 7,500 rpm redline. Above all, that crisp, free-breathing sound is wonderful. The Roadster really is a great car.

The tested 1,800 RS costs ¥2.295 million! Given how it drives, it's an absolute bargain.
