About this issue
The August 1999 issue of Young Version explores drift setups versus grip tuning through 22 shop demo cars, including S15 Silvias from Mine’s and Kazama Auto. Features cover front-wheel-drive builds taking on high-powered 4WD rivals, choosing a first drift car, and reviving a used AE86 Trueno on a ¥1 million total budget. Suspension fundamentals, engine-oil selection, rotary maintenance, new-parts tests, and reports from Hiroshima and California round out this look at Japan’s late-1990s tuning scene.
242 available scans from Young Version — August 1999, in right-to-left reading order. Japanese OCR and English translation drafts are available throughout. Drafts have not received exhaustive image proofreading; unreadable source remains recorded in the archival data.

and suspension were already partly modified, so I added a Trust oil cooler, intake and exhaust parts, and gauges. I mainly use it for commuting, but the drivetrain is equipped with a Nismo LSD and standard S14 clutch. It has coilovers of unknown make using TRD shocks, so it is always ready to drift! Next I want a radiator, and if funds allow, a Trust TZ turbo for the S14.
I've changed cars to keep drifting. The CA-powered car was the best for drifting and really good, but I eventually got bored and moved to this one. It currently runs 0.8 kg/cm² boost. I'm proud of the exhaust note from the BOSS manifold and KAZAMA exhaust—the high-rev sound is irresistible. I mainly drive circuits, with occasional mountain-road visits. Next I'm aiming for a GT2540 turbo.
